Green certifications: LEED and Zero Carbon
Green building certifications give owners, tenants and lenders independent proof that a building performs. We provide the energy modelling and documentation behind LEED and CaGBC Zero Carbon certifications, and the higher tiers of the Toronto Green Standard.

What it is and why it matters
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the most widely used green building rating system. Energy performance is its largest credit category, and it is demonstrated with an energy model.
The Canada Green Building Council’s Zero Carbon Building Standard certifies buildings that are designed or operated to reach net-zero carbon, through efficiency, on-site renewables and low-carbon energy.
In Toronto, TGS Tiers 2 to 4 are voluntary higher-performance levels that come with development charge refunds, and they follow a similar path to these certifications.
Our approach
We help the owner choose the certification and level that fits the project’s goals and budget.
We build the energy model for the certification and test the measures needed to reach the target.
We prepare the energy credit documentation and respond to reviewer comments.
Where the target is net zero, we size the efficiency, electrification and renewable energy needed to get there.
