Navigating energy efficiency requirements: Trainex seminar
David Pour presented at a Trainex Hub real estate development seminar on how municipal, provincial and federal energy efficiency requirements shape building design, approvals and project feasibility.

What we covered
The seminar gave a practical overview of the main regulatory pathways: municipal planning and building permits, provincial energy codes, and federal programs such as CMHC. It also covered recent changes to CMHC’s energy efficiency requirements and how they affect performance targets, design decisions and project outcomes.
The key takeaway: knowing where these requirements line up and where they differ, and setting energy performance targets early, makes approvals smoother, reduces risk and helps projects get the most out of available incentives.
